May: Sandwich Food Fayre
Saturday7th and Sunday 8th
Guildhall Forecourt and Market Street. Over 40 food and drink stalls from the UK and around the world make our ‘iconic’ annual Food Fayre one to enjoy. Street closures and street music add to the atmosphere.
June: Le Weekend
Saturday 11th and 12th
Sandwich Goes French for Le Weekend. Now in its seventh year Le Weekend will host the authentic French Market; offer 2 free outdoor concerts featuring French and English musicians; enjoy a street Can Can dance off; see around 400 cyclists ride Le Tour de sandwich, and new for 2016 – visit our Anglo French Medieval encampment on the Quay Green. Also new for 2016 – a concert in St Mary’s on Saturday evening featuring the award winning P&O workplace choir supported by French musicians.
July: Sandwich Folk & Ale Festival
Saturday 9th and 10th
With a broad range of musical styles including traditional and modern, our Folk & Ale Festival is well supported by numerous Morris Dance Teams who bring a splash of colour to the Town Centre. The Festival Kicks off with a Friday evening concert in St Mary’s with the renowned Dougie McClean. With over 30 bands on Saturday and Sunday playing in the streets and pubs offering a staggering range of free to enjoy concerts.
August: Sandwich Festival
Saturday 27th Sunday 28th and Monday 29th
An extravanganza of free entertainment in the Town Centre and on the Quay Green. Highlights include: Saturday: Carnival Queens parade and free outdoor concert; Barn Dancing in the Street; Sunday, ‘Let’s do Vintage’, Italian Market; Dance Schools showcase; Futures for Dogs annual Fayre, Salsa Dancing, street family disco; music on the Green. Monday – Classic Cars, Sandwich Town Monday Fayre, duck race; Illuminated Boat parade with fireworks.
September: Arts Week
Sat 17th to Sat 24th
A week long exhibition of local artists in St Peter’s church and in addition at various locations around the Town Trail. A welcome evening on Saturday; free music and drama on Sunday afternoon, film nights on Tuesday and Thursday; a Jazz Club on Wednesday; a Becker Concert ‘Magic of Mozart’ on Friday and Poetry workshop on Saturday.
17th to 24th
A week of dining and music in the wonderful selection of national and international cuisine establishments that Sandwich has to offer.
November: Saturday 26th
Christmas Lights parade carnival and switch on.
A day-long festival of craft stals, mulled wine, nmusical entertainmnts and fun fair. Then, at 6.00pm the parade processes through the town centre. On its return is the lights switch-on at 7.00pm.
December: Living Advent Calendar
1st to 24th
New for 2016 – 24 opportunities to go through the door of the day to enjoy a variety of December experiences. Look out for details on the new web site.
